DentaQuest Foundation Appoints Michael Monopoli and Brian Souza to New Roles as Vice-Presidents

The DentaQuest Foundation, the nation’s leading philanthropic organization focused on oral health, today announced the appointment of Michael Monopoli, DMD, MPH, MS, to the position of Vice President of Foundation Programs, and Brian Souza, MSW, to the position of Vice President of Strategy and Operations. Monopoli previously held the title of Director of Policy and Programs, and Souza was Managing Director of the Foundation.

As Vice President of Foundation Programs, Dr. Monopoli will oversee design and management of the grantmaking portfolio, as well as lead the Grants and Programs team. He will also serve as a clinical expert for internal leadership groups, and as an external spokesperson for the Foundation’s initiatives. Dr. Monopoli previously served as the dental director of the Office of Oral Health for the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, and Director of Public Health Policy at DentaQuest before joining the Foundation in 2009. He is a graduate of the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and holds Master of Public Health and Master of Science degrees from Harvard University School of Public Health. Dr. Monopoli is immediate past president of the American Association of Public Health Dentistry.

In his role as Vice President of Strategy and Operations, Souza will direct operating strategy development and implementation, and will oversee all internal operations. Souza will also lead the governance function of the Foundation, and will partner with the President and Vice President of Foundation Programs to develop and strengthen external partnerships that support the mission of the Foundation. Prior to joining the DentaQuest Foundation, Souza helped launch the DentaQuest Institute as Managing Director. His previous roles also include the Executive Director at Boston Partnership for Older Adults and Program Manager for the Community Care Alliance, a network of community health centers affiliated with Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Souza holds both Bachelor of Arts and Master of Social Work degrees from Boston University.
